In addition to keeping yards tidy, leaf collection helps prevent basement flooding in our neighborhoods by preventing storm drains and sewers from getting clogged.
Curbside Leaf Collection
From mid-October through December, residents of the city may enjoy curbside leaf collection by piling leaves on the tree lawn. Fall leaf collection schedules vary due to scale of material collected, weather and equipment availability. We, therefore, are unable to give residents information on when we will be on any particular street. Typically, it takes 14 days to complete 1 leaf collection cycle around the city.
Alternative Disposal Options
Residents may dispose of leaves anytime during the year by composting or bagging materials and placing them on the tree lawn with their regular trash so they will be collected by the city’s rubbish contractor on their regular collection day.
Please do not place leaves in the street. Leaves placed in the street can be hazardous to motorists, block drains, and become wet and matted after a rain which slows the collection process. Residents should pile leaves on the tree lawn.
