Building Department
Responsibilities
The City's Building Department is responsible for all commercial and residential construction as well as all building, zoning and regulatory matters. State-certified inspectors review all commercial or residential building plans, projects and construction elements, providing building permits and zoning approvals in an efficient and effective manner.
Building Contractors and Permits
The City of Highland Heights utilizes Franklin Information Systems, Inc. to track and maintain building and contractor permitting information. Please be advised that permits are required for most home repairs and improvements. In addition, all contractors must be registered with the City of Highland Heights in order to do business within the city. If you would like to check to see if your contractor is registered with the city, or if a permit has been issued for the work to be performed, click here to view contractor information.

Please contact the Building Department with any questions regarding permits, policies, forms or for more information. The Building Department follows the Residential Code of Ohio and the Ohio Building Code which is available at the Mayfield Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library.
