As mayor of the City of Highland Heights, I invite you to discover and enjoy the unique
characteristics that make our city stand out locally and nationally as “The City with
Pride and Promise”.
In my eyes, our city has always been, and remains as, the best place to live in
America. By keeping the needs of our residents and businesses a priority, and by
making good decisions for today and tomorrow, our community has a promising
future. We pride ourselves with a city government that is truly for the people,
working together to maintain the serenity, safety, and beauty of the community.
I believe that the City of Highland Heights comprises a perfect balance of
neighborhoods, green space, and businesses, with easy access to downtown Cleveland
and other regional amenities. This balance distinguishes the City of Highland Heights
as a convenient, close-knit, and safe community to work, reside, raise children and
make lasting memories. It is for this reason and many others, I am proud to say
Highland Heights has been my hometown for more than 40 years.
In 2011, CNN Money Magazine once again named Highland Heights as one of the best
small cities in America. Every two years, CNN Money Magazine reviews information
and statistics from America’s small towns. They rank each city, and publish their
list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the Country. This is an honor shared by few
communities in our area.
Quality public schools are another notable feature of which we are proud. Highland
Heights is part of the Mayfield School District, which was rated “Excellent with
Distinction” in 2011 for the third consecutive year. Only about 8% of Ohio school
districts earn this rating each year. The “Excellent with Distinction” rating for
the Mayfield City Schools by the State of Ohio, accompanies being named one
of “America’s Best High Schools 2011” by Newsweek Magazine.
