Charter Review Committee

Every five years, the mayor is to appoint a committee of nine residents to serve on the Charter Review Committee.  The purpose of this committee is to review and recommend to Council not less than ninety (90) days prior to the next November election, any alterations, revisions, and amendments to our Charter as in its judgment seem advisable.  Any recommendations from this committee must be submitted  without alteration, to the voters at the next regular November election. The members of this committee are volunteers and serve without compensation.

The f ollowing is a list of my appointments to the Charter Review Committee which were confirmed by City Council on Feb. 2, 201 1 .

At the organizational meeting on February 2nd, Dan Dombeck was elected as Chairman and Pam Hawkins was elected as Secretary.  To date, the committee has discussed several items including the term length of members of council and qualifications of the mayor and council.  The committee will meet roughly every three to four weeks.  The meetings are open to the public and I encourage residents to attend and learn more about our city charter.

I would like to extend my personal thanks to these individuals for serving on this very important committee.
